Fisherman's Monument

Malecón (Boardwalk)

The tourist boardwalk was built over the bay of Guaymas, incorporating spaces for commerce, tourist features and recreational areas for both locals and visitors. Plaza 13 de Julio

San Fernando Church

It is the main place of worship for Catholics in Guaymas. The church dates back to 1701, when a mission was established here, followed by a church in 1750. The Parish of San Fernando becomes a concert venue during the annual carnival celebrations in the days leading up to Ash Wednesday. If you are in Guaymas in February, visit the church to enjoy the operas presented there.

Plaza de los 3 Presidentes

It was built in 1972 to honor three presidents of Mexico born in Guaymas: Adolfo de la Huerta, Plutarco Elías Calles and Abelardo L. Rodríguez. The site was previously occupied by the pier fort that served as a defense for the port.

Palacio Municipal (City Hall)

Its foundation stone was laid on October 2, 1899. This site once housed the first school and the first civil prison. Construction was completed in 1923, and it is said that the foundation stone was brought from Germany and from Cabezón Hill.

The Banco de Sonora was an almost exact replica of the Hibernia Bank designed by Guaymas-born architect Albert Pissis in San Francisco, California, in 1892. It was inaugurated in 1904.

Casa Ricaud

This was the home of Mr. Enrique Ricaud, a descendant of French immigrants. It also housed a branch of Banco Occidental de México, which began operating in 1900 and was officially inaugurated as a branch in 1904; its construction took seven months.

Former Public Jail

This historic monument is 122 years old. Its gray and white Porfirian-era facade clearly shows its traditional construction. Today it is used as a museum and houses the historical archive, civic activities and an exhibition center, among other uses, which keeps it open to the public.

Fray Ivo Tonek Civic Auditorium

The building is municipally owned; it was built and adapted by architect Manuel Ibarra Legarreta in September 1973 and reopened on July 18, 1998. Its first performance was "11 y 12", a play by Chespirito directed by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. It hosts theater, music, dance, variety and children's shows, festivals, film screenings, conferences and government reports.

Plaza de la Pistola

Inaugurated on March 21, 1906, in honor of Benito Juárez, this plaza is located on Alfonso Iberri Street in downtown Guaymas. It has had several names, such as "Plaza de la Escopeta" and "Plaza de las Cervantes", and is currently known as "Plaza de la Pistola". Later, a bust of Rodolfo Garayzar (1890–1937) was added; born in Guaymas, he served as Municipal President (1922–1923) and as interim governor of Sonora in two periods, in 1925 and 1927.

Plaza a la Madre

This is where the customs office and the residence of the French vice-consul, Mr. José Calvo, once stood. Here Count Gastón de Raousset-Boulbon surrendered his sword after being defeated by the people of Guaymas under the command of General José Ma. Yáñez. The house was demolished in 1908, and the plaza was built on May 10, 1949.
